The Yaroslav the Wise International Library-and-Information Center

The Yaroslav the Wise International Library-and-Information Center (ILIC) of the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management provides information support to students, scholars, researchers, and experts of various domains.

The grand opening of the ILIC held on December 11, 1998 marked the emergence on the library horizon of a bright star, whose rays have to irradiate enlightment of the Ukrainian student body with miraculous beams of knowledge, will become the loadstars for thousands and hundreds of thousands of people, who are longing to learn. Such a comparison is not accidental, since the Ukrainian word, meaning “enlightment” comes from the word meaning "light". Having started its path as a book collection, the ILIC had until 2002 the book stock of more than 405,000 copies of books and 50 titles of periodicals, among which both Ukrainian newspapers and journals and magazines, and the foreign press. The stock, which grew within such a short period by 250 times, did not fit into the premises assigned to it; therefore, in summer of 2002 it was conditionally divided into the technical and humanitarian stocks and stored within custom-built separate premises of two different building of the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management.

On the International Day of Knowledge – September 1, 2004, -- the International Library-and-Information Center of the IAPM celebrated two significant events: a house-warming and conferment of the honorary name of the Yaroslav the Wise Library. At the grand opening of the Library, the ILIC staffers were presented a symbolic key to the structure, books; the honorary guests congratulated them and wished them good luck.

The floor area of the library makes up 4,000 m2.

The library stock includes 370,000 copies of educational, teaching-and-methodological, scientific and reference literature; 250 names of specialized periodicals of Ukraine and other countries.

The ILIC’s readers can use the services of the delivery room, reading rooms with liberal, economic and scientific literature, as well as literature in foreign languages, a room of periodicals and dissertations, two computer rooms having a seating capacity of 25, where people can make use of an electronic catalog, an electronic library, Internet, a scanner and a printer. The reading rooms have separate rooms for individual studies for 5-10 seats. The library disposes of copying facilities.

The library is engaged in:

— book shows, subject-matter and information-survey shelves; informational stands;

— provision of individual and advisory services.

The Cultural and Educational Center of the IAPM uses the library’s premises for exhibitions of contemporary painters, sculptors, masters of useful arts.

The library also has a cafe called “Bukva” (“Letter”).
